Use your judgement, and above all, be honest with yourself.

University campus: you can get an en-suite room there for about twenty pounds a night. Very basic (no TV) and does not include breakfast, but quiet and comfortable.
To book, contact Gillian Sudlow, College and Residence Office (01524 593554) between 9.00 am – 5.00 pm Monday to Friday. This accommodation is normally available from 2.00 pm and must be vacated by 10.00 am. Breakfast can be purchased at the Venue (South Spine), SPAR, Gregg’s or Diggles (all in or near Alexandra Square).0 -

Surely this only applies out of term time? Why would they have rooms empty that could be used by paying students?
Anyway, if that fails there is a rather nice-looking hotel in the middle of the university campus (the Lancaster House, I think). I've always liked the one on the road in from the North Lancaster junction of the motorway (Jct 34 rather than 33 for Lancaster proper). Used to be a Forte Posthouse; not sure what it is now.0 -
