Lloyds Classic Current Account - No chequebook

About a year ago, I opened a Lloyds TSB current account (their Classic Account). I was given a Overdraft limit, a Visa Debit card and a cheque book (as per the advertising literature which I still have from when I opened the account).
Ac close friend went into Lloyds to open a Classic Account a week or two back., He too was given a Overdraft limit and Visa Debit card but no cheque book.
Reading the current literature for the Classic Account it no longer mentions cheque books so do I take it this is the start of phasing out cheques by Lloyds?
Also, will they offer me a new cheque book when my current one is empty? I find it useful for the odd transaction such as when I send off for things or renew club memberships etc.
Thank you.
Peter

You will have to request one. Its what I have to do with my Halifax chequebook0

They probably don't wish to encourage the use of cheques (for a variety of reasons) and are so making it an opt-in thing. Good idea imho.0

I thank you for that. Unfortunately as one of the few people who does not own a mobile phone (cannot stand the things), I think reordering in the branch may be the order of things in my case.
Interesting though that they have removed all reference to cheque books from both the account advertising literature and also on the 'compare accounts' website though. Perhaps as others have alluded to it will become an 'opt in' thing prior to doing away with them in the long run, which I tihnk is a retrograde step but I suppose they call it progress.
The cheque book does come in handy though, especially as I have a disability and find using a pin keypad difficult at times as they keys are so small whereas in places where they print out the cheque details, having learnt how to sign my signature using my left hand, it makes things easier for me.

Recently opened a LTSB Classic account (3 weeks ago) and received a cheque book automatically, through the post, without having to request it.
I would imagine either a trip to or 'phone call to the branch could be needed.0 -
It's the price of a normal SMS (which in the case of most decent plans these days, are typically free at least for the first million or so each month) - do you not have a trusted friend you could impose on?I thank you for that. At the risk of starting to sound like James - are you aware of 'Chip and Signature?'The cheque book does come in handy though, especially as I have a disability and find using a pin keypad difficult at times as they keys are so small whereas in places where they print out the cheque details, having learnt how to sign my signature using my left hand, it makes things easier for me.Conjugating the verb 'to be":

If he only opened the account a week or two ago, the cheque book is probably still on the way, it still takes them an inordinate amount of time to get you all the bits and pieces required for a new account and, of course, they all come separately!0
