Laminate floooring over Cloud 9 underlay?

A couple of years ago I had some really nice light beige wool berber laid throughout the house. This was laid over some nice bouncy Cloud 9.
After the snow fall and I've come to the conclusion that the beige carpet is not a good idea in the entrance way to my house, and ecided to replace the hall way with Laminate. Can this be laid over Cloud 9 or would it be a problem?
The laminate will also meet with a carpeted stair riser, what options are there for finishing this junction? (carpet, meets laminate)
