Interesting call from EA

I viewed a property just over a week ago (Valentines Day). EA called back next working day for feedback as usual- I told him I liked the house and that it would be kept on my list.
I literally just got a call from EA to tell me that the house had an offer on it that the vendor was considering and that if I was interested that I should put an offer in. It's on the market for £129,995 so I told him that if I was to make an offer that it wouldn't be anywhere near that, probably in the region of £105k-£110k. He said if I went for £115 I'd be in business. I said thanks for the information and that I have a couple more houses to view before making an offer.
My question is not should I make an offer, but... was he just fishing? Is there really a buyer?
FYI - I have three properties on my yes list, this is #2 and £115k is the amount I would be willing to settle on.
Thanks in advance.

            That sounds like fishing...
nice phrasing you used though... I'll remember that when I give feedback tomorrow "it will be kept on my list"
Much nicer than "it's seriously overpriced"0 -
They must be ringing around today as I had a call earlier from Bryants in Andover (BIG newbuild)
she was just seeing if I was still interested and I said yes in the 3 bedroom houses, she then said they had all been sold (not even a show house up yet) then she tried to sell me a 4 bed, when I pointed out I was single so don't want/need a 4bed she suddenly changed her mind and said they had some 3 bed left.
I declined saying I'll wait till you have built a show room first. If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
I've only ever been wrong once! and that was when I thought I was wrong but I was right0 -

Its odds on that he's lying through his teeth, estate agents do that sort of thing. It's second nature to them..

I know, she kept on pressing on the 4bed but when I kept on declining she then decided they still had some 3 beds left:mad:If you find yourself in a fair fight, then you have failed to plan properly
