Cheap Hoilidays to Egypt?

We just booked 2 weeks to Sharm at the end of March, £480 for a small 3 star hotel with great online reviews. I took the same attitude that these things can happen anywhere, last time I was in Barcelona a bomb went off that killed 2 people that I don't think even featured on the news here, I figure it's no worse than going for a day out in London given all the random bombings we've had in recent years, and millions of people do that every day!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off0 -
At least get your facts straight before commenting on what might or might not constitute a risk - the murder of all the tourists was at Hatshepsut's temple , which is close to the Valley of the Kings on the west bank of LUXOR!
Hundreds of miles away from Cairo:rolleyes: .
I would think it more likely to be kicked in the head by a camel than be caught up in terrorism.
We are off for a tour of Luxor, Cairo and Sharm in 7 weeks and of course we will be careful - we spent 8 years living in RAF Germany, checking underneath our cars everyday for IRA bombs.
You can either live your life scared , after all you could die horribly at home, no need to go abroad to be taken out by a drunk driver or an idiot with a knife - or you can just live your life normally.
What if the car crashed on the way to the airport, what of the plane crashed etc. etc. infinitum.
Personally I think the facts speak for themselves TOURISTS KILLED IN TOURIST AREA - I too have done the Army thing but that doesnt mean I want to repeat it.
Yes you can have the attitude of " you could get run over by a bus" and if thats you, then fine. As I said - I go on holiday to relax, not to put my family in harms way.
Each to there own - dont dis-respect somebody due to a difference of attitude to risk.0 -
I agree with all comments but lets face it you are not safe anywhere these days. The foreign office will not stop people travelling to Egypt for this case. I used to visit my gran in the costa del sol when she lived there and there was bombs and scares everyday. It could happen in your city or town you just dont know.
I would advise a holiday in the lake district maybe a small cottage in the middle of the sticks lol only joking
Thanks

I'm pretty sure that tourists are killed every single day somewhere in the world - whether by accident/illness or murder. Travelling to Egypt is NOT putting yourself in harm's way.
I'm hardly suggesting a trip to Zimbabwe or the Gaza strip now, am I?
I was referring to your staggering lack of geographical knowledge when I quoted you. It's like not knowing the difference between London with Hull!
If you don't know the difference between the Pyramids at GIZA and Hatshepsut's temple at LUXOR, you're not really qualified to comment on Egypt."There is a light that never goes out"0
