You can split up your joint debt onto more than once card so take the £2500 Egg one and then you only need look around for another home for or pay interest on the £3000.
But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,
Had the whole of their cash in his care.

  • yeah going to get one another one, just really didnt want another one but will close down halifax one as soon as its paid off to another card.

Halifax card is EVIL as they are only wanting 1% of balance as the minimum. Basically, you will die before you pay it off if you only pay the minimum. I am overpaying mine as much as possible and as soon as my credit rating is a little more cheerful I am going to get a 0% and ditch those suckers as soon as possible!! :)

Had a smack in the teeht yesterday, egg initially agreed a £5500k interest free card but after i signed and they did their checks its come down to £2500 interest fre limit and doesnt cover the amount...so angry! which means we have the joint credit card coming off interest free in March neither of us can get anohter card so we are stuffed :(

£5500,000! Wow, that's a lot of zeros! :rotfl:
  • yeah thats the plan here, will remove as much as poss to egg and we are cancelling critical illness cover on mortage and getting cheaper life cover on mortage and filing it all at the halifax card.

    That's a good start :)
    Good Luck
  • Hi and welcome to the boards.

Remember to go to a cashback site like www.quidco.co.uk for any insurance/mobile phones/utilities etc. We have made over £400 since last summer buying things going through quidco - so would really recommend it.

Keep a spending diary is an absolute must. It will show you where all your little bits of monies are going and where you can cut back on unneccesary things. Join some of the challenges, like the grocery challenge, make £10 per day challenge, the NSD challenge - they all help to keep you focused and motivated.

Good luck and you are really in the right place for a whole load of knowledge, support and great advice - will make a few cyber friends along the way too! But this site should carry a warning - IT IS VERY ADDICTIVE!!
When you were born, you were crying and everyone around was smiling. Live your life so at the end, you're the one who is smiling and everyone around you is crying! :rotfl:
  • thank you it is addictive! The freebie and comp bit is fab too! Gives you an incentive! x;)
