DECT phones - maximum number of base stations?

This is more of a work phone question than a home phone question, so I hope it's the right place.
Our charity has a small number of incoming lines, which go to an old switchboard.
There are a number of extensions around the offices, many in the wrong place, and so to provide more flexibility a DECT base station is connected to an extension with one or more DECT handsets associated with this base station.
My questions are:
a) is there a maximum number of DECT base stations we can use (one per extension), since there must be a maximum number of channels, and presumably even if no calls are being made or received, a base station is always 'talking to' its own handsets?
b) is there a maximum number of DECT handsets we can have (in total, for all base stations)?
Are either of these maxima related to the number of simultaneously-active handsets?
Hope this makes sense...
Thanks!

DECT has 160 channels as far as i know.
With a range of 50 or so meters indoors it's not so likely that you'd have too many phones for it to cause a problem.
I know of setups with at least 10 DECT phones in range of each other- it'll be fine.0 -
What kind of phone system do you have? make/model, etc.
The reason I ask is that even some of the older switches are digital which means that you would need an analogue adaptor of some kind, as DECT phones are analogue also (Dont get fooled by the box saying that DECT phones have a digital signal either, as the digital bit is only between the handset and the base. The base and the wire that connects to the wall socket is still analogue). If all your phones are a standard type that you would use at home, then you should be fine, however, if they have lots of buttons to transfer calls or place people on hold, and the likes, then you will most likely have a digital system which will need an adaptor as I say.
Hope this helps. Although, if you can find out what system you have, I could probably be a bit more help to you.0 -
We have some BT Studios, but want to get in addition some more decent ones from Argos (yes, I know!), like Panasonic or Siemens...
I don't think the switchboard is relevant - all we are doing is replacing an 'ordinary' telephone handset with a DECT base unit. The telephone handset will have Recall on it, but little else out-of-the-ordinary.0
