Why oh why do things go wrong

We are almost 12 months into our IVA and all is going well and I do thank God that it was approved, however, I have now had problems with my car £260 for a repair, MOT and service and I have now been told the clutch is slipping and this will cost me a further £320. Just when I thought things may start getting a bit easier due to mortgage rates dropping etc, there is another kick in the teeth, I am so depressed today and cannot pull myself out of it, I am tired of struggling. I know it was our own doing but life also threw some unexpected things at us such as redundancies etc. Thanks for reading, it's made me feel a bit better writing this down.

As the late John Lennon said in one of his songs - life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.

My IVA is in draft form at present so I am not an expert, but maybe a word with your IVA supervisor might help? If the car is an essential for travel to work some flexibility my be allowed.

Thanks, I will call them as I have been advised that I may miss a months payment and they may be able to add it to the end - I am also allowed to miss two payments - I had a look at the paperwork, I guess it's not as bad as I thougt it was.

Depends on your IP but I've missed a few payments in months when I've had some financially emergency. I'm with Payplan and they have been great. :o)

    Debt free 21st Oct 2011.

we also had to miss a payment due to illness but they wouldn't add it on the end, instead they divided the payment into 10 and added it to the next 10 months payments which was hard but do-able just about. At least it is nice knowing that there is the option of doing that without risking your iva. we are half way through our 4th year and while we can just about manage it is the unexpected bills such as car repairs that are always a worry.

separator.gifI send all my car bills to my IP when i send my wage slips, and they set them against what I earn over my basic - so I dont lose as much of my overtime as I would normally... will be worth you having a word with your IP - it never occurred to me that this was allowable till I got nagged into ringing them by my brother - and the lad i spoke to said "of course - send them in!!"
    IT PAYS TO ASK...... !!
