Is this normal - landlord storing their stuff at property

I can live without the space. Apparently the landlord can live without the items since they will (according to EA never want to access items) If it turns out to be the only access to the water units etc then they will have no choice but to give us access.
What I'll do is state on the contract something like. Exclusions; Loft cupboard and it's contents (contents unknown by tentants) are sole responsibility of landlord and not included in tenants contents insurance. Locked & no access given to tenants. Landlord agrees there are no flammable items stored. Landlord agrees to access these items no more than once every 6 months at an agreed mutual time.
Since this was dumped on us last minute, surely that seems like a fair arrangement, considering it doesnt seem like we were going to be told beforehand?0 -

That sounds fair, make sure that they actually read it, maybe ask them to initial next to your add on bit so you know for sure! I know sometimes contracts get signed by LLs and not necessarily sent back by letting agents after the tenants have signed-beware if the LL has signed before you!Scar tissue that I wish you saw, sarcastic mister know it all, close your eyes and I'll kiss you cause with the birds I'll share this lonely view.0 -

I would really want to be sure there was nothing flammable in the cupboard.
My concern too. In laws used to let their own home with 'stuff' in a locked room. Old, but not antique furniture that wouldn't be allowed under fire resistant legislation was amoung that stuff, and pots of paint etc etc.
While, as a person, I wouldn't mind someone retaining use of a room/cupboard, as a tenant with the risks involved I would. I wouldn't move in.0
