AS the title really, every other thread is Citi this and Citi Card that, so what's so great about them as opposed to, say, Barclays and Barclaycard?

Hi Barbie,
Well, I have just posted an article on Citicard here today:
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1509999
I have a Platinum credit card with them. They are increasing my interest rate from 16.9% to 31.9%. I have never missed a payment with them but personally I have always found their customer service to be very helpful and informative plus their online access is very simple and easy to use.
I also have a Barclaycard and I have found their customer services very poor - the operators are very difficult to understand and if you ask them to clarify something for you they struggle to do so. (I think I have seen a few articles on here from a few weeks ago or so criticising Barclaycard's customer service). I do like their online access however - it also is very easy to use.
Hope that answers your question in some way.

CITI are as good as any other credit card company. They have some decent products around at the moment.
The rates, penalty fees etc are irrelevant if you never pay them. The point is that you make the card work for you (cashback, stoozing etc) not the other way around – under those circumstances you use the best cards around at the point of application. In some cases that’s egg, citi, amex – whichever issues has the best deals for your circumstances.0 -
CitiBANK on the other hand are brilliant - no other bank that you can walk in mid-lunchtime and have a choice of 2 advisors!0

Thanks for the responses but I think I'll stay with Barclaycard, as people have said, if you clear your balance monthly there is little difference.0 -
If you clear your balance monthly and never incur any interest then you should get a cashback or loyalty/rewards card.0

Citi gave me a huge limit 3 x what hsbc gave me and I still get 1% cashback.0

Citigroup are in trouble I don't see them being keen to lend to anybody.

By that logic no one anywhere can be accepted for a credit card - they're all in the s**t0
