While not the cheapest option, you may want to consider Maxjet. They are flying to Washington for about £600.

Its basically a business class only airline flying out of Standstead.

Slightly sweeping statements. I find BA a very decent service. Can't comment on United, never flown with them. Virgin are good, but I think in econ they are no different to BA (service wise anyway, I know Virgin's IFE is much better than BA's though).

  • Hi,

I fly to Washington 1 -2 times a year and have tried various airlines (including the never again route via London Heathrow !!!).

Flying from Glasgow I prefer to use Icelandair - have always found them cheaper and booked direct from their website on a couple of occassions .. if not then usually through AirlineNetwork. Did find that Baltimore was quicker to get into Maryland from ... made the mistake and flew into Dulles at turn of year and was told by unhappy brother who was chauffeur that it was in a different state entirely and could I please fly into Baltimore next time or I would have to make my own way !!!!

    Hope this helps

  • Me again,

Also wouldnt bother with a taxi to travel into Washington if you near a rail station.

I usually buy a rail / underground ticket which you can put on as much cash as you want and then use as many times until cash runs out.

Rail system very clean/effecient/cheap and safe.

    Hi,
I think you will find you could get reasonible flights to Wasington Dullus (IAD) from Air France, we are going with them at end for March from Manchester. Have to change in Paris but not a big deal as no direct flight now.
