Travelodges used to allow dogs for free but they charge £10 now so mine will be sleeping in my van!

  • The problem with places that allow pets is all the other people that have taken their pets before you! Yuk!

  • Well what I was meaning is that I have a dog and it is well looked after and clean. He gets his feet and beard cleaned after every walk. Other people I know have dogs that I would not let in my house.

I know looking at caravan holidays that all the top quality "gold" vans don't allow pets but you can take them in the older lower grade "bronze" ones. Personally I would want to pay the extra and stay in a nicer one but that means I can't take the dog. Luckily I have relations who love looking after him so I don't have the dilema.

Have a look in the back of dog magazines in the newsagents they will have adds for dog friendly accomodation. Or try dog association web sites like the kennel club or local ones to the area you want to go to.

    Hi - Can I suggest

    https://www.listedluxury.co.uk (Dorset/Devon border - near Lyme Regis)

We stayed in 'Horseshoe Cottage' over the October half term. It was fantastic.
The accomodation was immaculate, full of facilities - dishwasher, washer/dryer, iron, tv, dvd player - plus dvd's, games, jacuzzi bath... VERY VERY clean too - did not smell doggy!! High standard of furnishings, and lots of thoughtful touches - ie all bed linen provided, towels, tea towels, toiletries - including 'nice' toilet roll! Nice touches for the children too - like gingerbread biscuits and squash.

The garden was fully enclosed, and the cottage is on a 350 private estate with private (pebbly) beach - Walk down to beach unsuitable for pushchairs as steep!! I didn't attempt it, as I was recently out of hospital for major surgery, but husband and children did and loved it.

Our dog loved it - the kitchen had underfloor heating, and we had to prise him out of there!

Probably not the cheapest - but it really felt like the most wonderful holiday, I cried when we left! We are going back!

Sorry - forgot to check the website before I posted. Much of the availability has gone for this year - however, I'd still phone the owners direct - just in case!

One to def recommend - like I say we are returning and thats about as high a recommendation as I can make.

Sorry JanieBaby - but theres always next year! I would try calling her, as I know she was looking for new properties to add last year, and though I don't think they are on the estate, I'm sure they'll be fab. Hope you find somewhere good!
