Cloned debit card??

HSBC Called me yesterday to verify some transactions on my account. There was £200 cash taken out of my account from a Morrisons cash point machine in London at 1.15am. I live in Coventry, my card is in my possession and no one has my pin. Am I correct in thinking that maybe my card has been cloned in a dodgy cashpoint machine used prior? (Was on holiday in wales and used a few different cashpoints).
Do I have any chance of getting my money back and should I contact the police? I have to wait 3 working days until I can do anything so at the moment im very much in the dark.
Thanks
Paula

Give it the three days until you hear back from HSBC as they will be dealing with it for you, however, sometimes the bank can be very slow at returning the money to your account so when you do hear from them stress that the loss of £200 will be a big hole in your budget and ask for a time scale as to when this money will be returned to your account.0

It has all the signs of your card being cloned at an ATM.
Remember in future to always hide your PIN input by covering the pad with your other hand, there is usually a hidden camera fitted to the top of the ATM by the fraudsters.
Good luck.0 -
Same happened to me but in a petrol station. They tried to take over £2500 in Australia! I've never been to australia! Its such a horrible feeling. Hope you get it all sorted out soon.
Dont worry you will get the cash back and the bank would have cancelled your card so they can not take anymore. Id do as Edinburghlass says and contact HSBC and explain that you are very worried and would like to know how fast they will sort that out(timescale) and explain that it is a big hole in your finances. Usually they will up your overdraft by £200 until it is sorted out then remove the o/d (only if you really need it, like bills etc)
Dont worry as its not a new thing so dont feel silly, you will learn from your mistake. I certainly did! xx0/2013

and should I contact the police?
Should you get asked by your bank however to make a report to the police, be sure to ask them which police you should contact. Normally your local police will not be interested as the crime has taken place in another police area.0 -
Thanks for the replies everyone!
How on earth is this done – how do they get your info?0 -

They fit a bar type piece of metal to the top of the ATM which includes a camera, the camera records you inputting your PIN details. they fit a " skimmer " to the card input of the ATM, this skims the card details, they then transfer the info to their friends in London, they make a dummy card and use your info to get the money out.
That is how I think it is done.
Hence my advice to cover the keypad with your spare hand, without your PIN, they cannot get anything.0
