sorry to jump on your thread but these oyster cards?? when you top them up, and then use them, does it tell you the balance/ and what if you get on a bus and you go to 'swipe' it and you dont have enough left on it. what happens then? do you get chucked off??0

You can check the balance at tube stations etc and they let you go a little into debt, you can set up the oyster to auto debit your credit card if you run low.
Minimum top up is £50 -
When you swipe your card against a reader on the bus or tube, it tells you what your balance is - the displays on the readers on bendy buses are fairly large and easy to read, but you have to squint a bit at the ones on normal buses and the tube ;-) If you've got enough money it beeps, but if you don't, or you didn't swipe it properly, it makes a different kind of beep and the reader will say "not enough credit" or "card communication failure". The driver won't let you on a regular bus if you don't have enough credit, but you won't be stopped on a bendy bus, unless the ticket inspectors get on. HTH!2015 comp wins - £370.25
