Eon increased our monthly DD

I only have electricity(rubbish white meter heating) Im with Eon and pay £70 DD every month and had built up quite a bit, however with the cold snap I had the heating up full and was using a convector heater quite a lot too and got a £325 bill in, there was about £270 in the account to cover most of it. I got a letter in saying they will be increasing our DD payment to £116 per month, I know we are not going to use this much as the temp has gone up, Ive turned all the heaters down and am not using the convector heater, plus eon have announced price cuts in electricity. Do you think if I phoned them saying all this I could get them to decrease the payments? I dont want to wait another 3 months.
Thanks

Eon like to have your DD account with a zero (or 250 credit;)) balance when you get your spring bill in May. So this increase may only be temporary while your arrears are payed. Then they should add up the amount of electricity you have used over the last 12 months, divide this amount by 12, factoring in any increase/decrease in prices and give you a new DD payment for the next year.

The increase to the Direct Debit is probably to bring back the debit on your account. The monthly amount will now have been increased to ensure that the balance on your account is zero by the time we review it in the spring.

If your consumption is reducing this may have an effect in the future but the figures are not currently available to E.ON to take this in to account. It may be that the amount of £70 was originally to low and over the last 12 months you have consumed more than 12 x £70.

If you would like me to review this again for you, send me a Private message with your address details and I will be happy to double check this and discuss it with you further.

    I hope I can help. :)
