E-On: "No discount on final bill..."

I'm unhappy with the E-On terms and conditions and I'm wondering if anyone else thinks I have a point? I'm refering to the term:
"No discounts will be applied to the final bill and you must pay the balance in full."

I recently left E-On (due to their latest randomly double your direct debit idea) and the removal of my Online Discount cost me £38. I know people are going to say "well, you should have read the T&C", but the thing is that I did. I misread this as "You can't just pay a part of your final bill". I think it is deliberately misleading to put the bit about removing discounts in the same sentence as "...you must pay the balance in full." The two terms aren't related at all surely?

Also, it's called an "Online Discount" and the account was run online all the way through. Shouldn't they be made to call it a "Loyalty discount" if that's what it is?

Finally, it is not highlighted in any way in a whole page of small print, shouldn't an important condition like this be highlighted?

I think this term should be changed to make it clearer so other people don't lose money like I did. Of course, what I'd really like is my discount but I can see that's not going to happen! I was wondering if there is someone to complain to so that E-On change this? I tried E-On who are obviously not interested, the Energy Ombudsman who don't look at terms and conditions (why ever not!?) and Trading Standards who say there is nothing they can do. Any ideas?

Well, they're both related to the final bill. It's been discussed here before and, while people don't like it, it's been in their T&C for some time.

I suppose, but I would still like to see this term highlighted in their T&C. I can see lots of people on here are unhappy or didn't notice it. Surely there is some way to get it improved/made more obvious?

May I ask, when paying monthly by direct debit, is this disallowed from the final part-of-a-month's bill or the final part-of-a-quarter's bill?

It's for the quarterly bill. If you know about it then of course you can avoid most of it by changing supplier right at the beginning of a quarter (another random thing about this "penalty" that I object to).
