Yes - A friend was in this position last year. She had recently completed treatment for stress & her doc sent a supporting letter to that effect. A five year exemption quickly followed.0

I've been put on the list for Jury Service this year but haven't been called yet. I'd love to do it as I'm sure it would be really interesting - oh yeh, and it gets me out of work for a while!! :jNorn Iron Club Member 330

One result of filling in the electoral register
Which means what?
Don't get on the electoral register?
Don't have the right to vote and do away with trial by jury?
Is that what you mean?
And for those who are desperate to get onto a jury I know a self-employed bloke who was called up, tried to get off they said know, and the case lasted 4 months and he went out of business effectively in that time.
I have done it a couple of times and it amazes me how little notice of what is being said some jurors take. They make up their minds as soon as the trial starts.0 -

Yes sometimes its a complete farce
Permanent paid professional juries might be the answer?
If you don't want to be ever called don't fill in the electoral register but that's another matter
Trial by jury; is a trial by a jury made of up 12 people who were too stupid to get out of it.0 -

We have 15 people who obviously couldn't get out of it in our juries0 -

It is a legal requirment to be on the electoral register, not a free choice.
"Do I have to register? I do not intend to vote.
You are required by law to register, regardless of whether or not you intend to vote. "
