£35k student debt - need help

L&H have a 2 yr fixed 4.83% but I'd say not for the long term anyway. A small cash sum at hand is very useful (for an emergency). An unused line of credit does not cost anything and puts you in an almost identical position. Unfortunately the easiest "unused line of credit" is usually expensive overdrafts and credit cards - perhaps the last thing you need in an emergency.0

Thank you all for your comments.
No i havent dropped out - I have my last exam tomorrow (14th june)!
I have thankfully secured a job to start in september.
The HSBC loan repayments do not kick in until June 2005. I will endeavour to save as much as I can over the 12 months grace period, and plug it all into the loan - so hopefully I can pay it off sooner.
I am not too concerned about the student loans company - but obviously no debt is good debt, so I will pay that off as quickly as possible after the HSBC one.
Thanks for all of your comments,

you think its a good idea getting a few 0% credit cards and investing all the funds in a ISA for say 9-12 months untill the 0% runs out ?
any idea how much youd make of £5000 a year ?Smile and be happy0 -
One other thing to check is that you can pay your HSBC loan off quicker.
My husband has a HSBC graduate loan which they added all the interest to up front so we pay the same no matter how quickly we pay it off.
He's paying his student loans off more quickly instead.
Just a thought!0
