  • They want to put mine up from 19.9 to 23.9
As I pay off the balance it's a matter of principal, as it will be expensive if ever it couldn't be paid one month...

Guess which card is being cancelled today :)

I have a citicard but I got it in Spain so not sure if I will also be subject to increasing interest rates. I find the customer service very poor, so if the rates do go up I will want to bail out. Meanwhile I am trying to pay my card off, I have a 3000euro balance on it (and they just increased my limit!). Anyway, I'm now taking part in a credit card repayment plan, and hope to pay it off asap.

Personally I would rather have no credit cards than maintain a balance at 30%+.

    Agreed.
The sooner people return to normal practice of using their debit card for day to day spending the better.

As long as the balances are paid in full every month there is no problem with using credit cards. I use them for all my day-to-day spending and benefit from cashback, rebates and consumer protection.
  • Our finances are on a knife edge as it is and it was the last thing we needed.

Citibank's finances might be on a knife edge too.
