How have you found the transition over to the new keyboard?
Pretty good. As I say it's a lot more comfortable than the regular one I used to have although I am now having to relearn touch typing (the correct way I suspect) as with the split keyboard it has highlighted that I always used to type a 'b' with my right hand but it's now on the left half of the keyboard. Saying that, if that's the extent of my problems then I'm happy with that.

    • how much the tablet is/if it has good reviews/has come recomended?
The tablet is just under £60 from amazon and has good reviews. http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000R3Q360/ref=ord_cart_shr?%5Fencoding=UTF8&m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
The keyboard is just under £30 from amazon.

Thanks for the input so far everyone :)
    No probs.
  • Right, steps taken so far: I'm not sure if the powerball will work, but it seems to have good reviews with regards to RSI/Carpal Tunnel (when using at low speeds).

I'd be interested in what settings people recommend for workrave (I'm currently using default settings - 30 secs every 3 minutes micro break, 10 mins every 45 mins rest break).

I get the feeling this will be quite good. When reading web pages, rather than constantly following the text with my pointer, and scrolling round all the time (i.e. spending ALL my web browsing time with one hand on the mouse) I now find myself trying to "cheat" the program, by using the page up/ down buttons only when necessary, keeping my hands away from the keyboard / mouse in between (to extend the time needed between breaks). Not sure if this is a good thing or not, but I expect it to be, as I'm not using my wrists while reading.

I still need to get a keyboard and mouse - The MS Natural 4000 seems to keep being mentioned everywhere, so (whilst I'm not sure if the keyboard thing is a problem, I do need a new keyboard) I think I'll get one of these.

I'm convinced it was a Microsoft mouse which gave me this condition in the first place, so will probably look for a cheap wireless logitech one as a replacement.

I'm also planning to start some exercises.

Oh, and a trip to the GP...

Thanks again for the input everyone :)

I got bad wrist pains after doing sub-contract photograph touch-up work, using a Kensington TrackBall. I dumped the job and reverted to my ordinary mouse and the pain cleared after 3 weeks.

I had this complaint for about 3 years, had to stop knitting etc, as I was bored I took up using a hand held games console this involves using fingers but not wrists, after about 6 weeks I noticed I wasn't getting any pain in my wrists anymore,I then started playing PS3 games ,again, no pain and I can honestly say that I have never had any pain in my wrists since.Quirky I know but it's true and I also had arthitis in my hands, my fingers are disformed and the doctor's are amazed that I have no pain with them !:T
