Which travel insurance covers tesco clubcard deal bookings

Anyone out there discovered any travel insurance companies that cover the use of tesco clubcard deals holidays. The tesco website suggests that most don't and that their insurance will reiumburse lost clubcard deal vouchers in the event of a problem. But in the interests of shopping around for quotes wondered if anyone knew of any other companies that will reimburse for holidays booked using clubcard deals?

Otherwise any cheap suggestions for cheap travel insurance for a 4 night break to Eurodisney? (all very nearly paid for through clubcard points amassed through the forum in the last 6 months!!)

Have a look at Martins' "best buy" travel insurance web

They say they cover Air Miles and similar vouchers in their T&C's and confirmed for me this would include Tesco vouchers

Interesting.

When I travelled last year using tesco vouchers I contacted this, and many other companies.

They all stated that they wouldn't cover Tesco vouchers. The only insurer I could find that would cover the holiday were tesco insurance themselves.

Just make sure that you get it in writing that they cover these - a verbal confirmation isnt worth the paper it's written on!

I've been safe and used Tesco's for my travel insurance...costing us, 2 adults and 2 children, £31 (I think) for a week in England in August.

I have insurance through my Bank Account but they wouldn't cover the vouchers if we had to cancel.

Just phoned them and they said that Tesco vouchers would be covered. they also put me through to claims to make sure who also said that tesco vouchers would be covered. (It says in the small print that "Airmiles or by any other form of redeemable vouchers...")

Annual Europe policy costs £49 (family of four), Annual Worldwide costs £63 (Tesco quoted £129.99)

I have just emailed them to check their policy on clubcard vouchers and have received the following (so have it in writing):

"We cover bookings made using Tesco Clubcard vouchers. In the case of a cancellation in such a situation, we would refund the cost of lowest fare and not the Tesco Clubcard vouchers."

I have always used Tesco Travel insurance if I have paid with clubcard vouchers. Last year I had to make a claim and they refunded me the equivalent amount in points back onto my clubcard points total. They were by far the worst company I have ever dealt with for customer service. They never returned phone calls, were really rude and treated me like I was trying to make a fraudulent claim. I would think twice about using them again, but if you pay with deals tokens I think Tesco have you by the short and curlies when it comes to insurance.

Be careful with Tesco insurance. They told me over the phone that they only cover up to £250 of deals per person travelling - so if, like me, you are a family of 5 using £2000 of deals (i.e. £500 of clubcard vouchers earned over 2 years!) - you would only be covered for £1250 of deals! I was absolutely astonished to be told this as it certainly isn't mentioned anywhere easy to find in their blurb.

Tesco travel insurance is therefore very expensive and inadequate in our situation.

However, TravelInsuranceWeb do cover the whole value of the Tesco Deals used -BUT- they do not cover ANY pre-existing medical conditions at all. Three of my family have mild asthma, which is almost always covered by travel insurance (I always phone to check first) at their standard rate. TravelInsuranceWeb will insure us, but the asthma will not be covered.

We are therefore in a conundrum - either pay the expensive Tesco cover (almost £80 I think) to be fully covered medically and only have £1250 of the clubcard deals covered - or go with the much cheaper cover with TravelInsuranceWeb (around £20), but take the risk that in the very unlikely event that one of us needs treatment for asthma, we would not be covered.

Out of interest, does anyone know if their European cover includes Egypt? When I went last year I booked through Direct Line and theirs did, but a few companies said it came under Worldwide (which I would have expected?)

Could you have two policies? TIW and another cheap policy which will cover the asthma fully. I suppose the only problem is complete cancellation due to asthma issues before you go.
