slightly embarrasing, i think a bra underwire has escaped into my new washing machine. it is making a terrible noise when the drum is turned.
will this damage the machine?
how do i get it out - do i need to?
will i be covered by the machine warranty?
i do have the special laundry nets but have forgotten to use them.

Not sure about warranty, if you are covered for accidental damage then no problems I'd imagine. What's your house insurance like, do you have accidental cover on it? I'd imagine you'd have to get it taken out? Maybe if you check your local newspaper they'll be someone advertising for repairs etc. You could call them and enquire as to what to do, just consulting them not hiring them. What about the filter, if you remove it, maybe you could take it out and have a look in and see if you can see anything. Never had this problem but I know that removing the drum is an all day job. Had a new drum replaced on a washing machine and the guy was there for a good few hours. Hope you get it sorted somehow. Good Luck.
There was a site, washerhelp I think it was.
Hang on...

Take a look and see if there is anything on here first to see what it says.“Ordinary riches can be stolen, real riches cannot. In your soul are infinitely precious things that cannot be taken from you.” - Oscar Wilde0 -
Try running your hand very carefully around the inside of the drum. You may find that you can feel one end of the wire sticking through one of the tiny holes in the drum, and can then pull it out with a pair of pliers.
(At least that's what I managed to do when it happened to me!)

This happened to me too with my old washer and i was able to pull it from inside the washer drum as it was sticking through one of the holes a little.
Since having mhy new washer i darent put underwire bras in there in case it happens again.
I know it says in my guarantee with the washer that it does not cover bra wires getting stuck. It actually does say this which is why i am so not going to put them in my washer.
Hope you get it sorted out. Good luck.0 -
On the one occasion this happened with my machine it was possible to remove the wire throught the aperture where the electric heating element is fitted. i.e. this time it wasn't necessary for the drum to be removed. Not done as a DIY job though, had to call out an engineer who also said if you are VERY lucky it's possible, as mentioned in the previous post, to retrieve it through one of the holes in your drum. I didn't mind at the time, it was from one of my daughter's bras and she paid the bill!!!0

Ok, this has happened to me twice. You'd think I'd have learned my lesson by now lol!
I have a front loading, high efficiency washer. The 1st time it happened, the underwire had slipped down so far that it couldn't be found inside the drum and just pulled out.
What it did was fall down into this rubber boot thingy where the water drains, and it prevented the washer from spinning. It just wouldn't do anything really.
So what my husband did was unplug the washer (naturally), pulled the cover off the back, and got underneath the washer. The rubber boot part is just held on with pressure clamps? I don't know what else to call them, sorry lol! Anyway, you squeeze them together and they release. So we took the rubber boot part off and bingo! There was the underwire inside!
I'm only posting this tonight because I had to do it again, all by myself, just a little while ago lol! I had watched him do it before, he's working night shift, and I realllly need to wash clothes. (Our well pump malfunctioned and we've been without water for 3 days, ughh!)
Turns out this time, there were two underwires in there LOL! You just have to make sure you get the clamps and the rubber boot back on right, or when the washer drains.. you'll have water leaking!
I'm a woman, and I did itSo.. go me, lol!! It's a pain in the rear, and a tight area to have to work in, but it can be done!
From this day on, I will never just toss another underwire bra in my washer. Nope! Hope I helped someone!!0 -
You can get bra bags ..or net wash bags to prevent (or at least minimise) this sort of "boob"!
Asked the wife where she got the ones we use and she said try the supermarket. Betterware do this one. For the sake of a few quid it could save an expensive washer repair bill!0 -
Yeah Net bra bags or wash bags are the perfect solution.
They are very handy and saves all the headaches and long long issues0 -
why buy anything?
just use a pillow case.Get some gorm.0 -
why buy anything?
just use a pillow case.
Pillow case would be too big Ormus, and unless the pillow case has a zip or poppers whatever is inside can find it's way out - it happened to me when I put a jumper inside one so I'm sure a bra would find it's way out. Net bags can be bought for a pound or two, Wilkinsons, Poundland, Dunelm, etc.0
