I have no idea if this'd work or not - 'no nails'?"a workman, even of the lowest and poorest order, if he is frugal and industrious, may enjoy a greater share of the necessaries and conveniences of life than it is possible for any savage to acquire."0

I used a tube of adhesive in a mastic gun. This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !0

Liquid nails, Gripfill, Pinkgrip or any other variant and actual nails will suffice (I use a nailgun, but I do it for a living). Once the glue goes off, the jobs a good un. Find the stud centre for a fixing.
If you want the overkill method countersink, and screw, but newbuilds these days are all fixed as above. In wood we trust.0 -
Most of the time when i build a wall like this i would put in a 3 x 2 wood all the way across the base of the wall so u should have 2" to drill in to. test with a pilot hole first where the skirting is going. if u have wood there u can fix it with nails, if not then use "liquid nails" type of adhesives u should have a nice flat wall!0
