Fuel cards
While waiting to see if the Pipeline card does come good, does anyone have any experience of fuel cards such as "fastfuel" ? Does anyone know if the national average pump price that "fastfuel" uses work out cheaper than just using Petrolprices to find the cheapest filling station in the area (specifically when the area is mid-Sussex / Brighton) ?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Most company fuel cards are really there to assist in accounting procedures, within a business, not as a great way to save £$£$.
They will also only allow fuel/oils, or specified transactions, on the card, thus preventing fraud - if the odd sandwich & Mars bar, is a BIG problem, to them.
So you're still better off using your credit card points/cashback schemes.
I'm always keen to promote the Shell Optimax card (free in Shell stations) & worth just under 1p/ltr - a couple of pennies, depending on your spend, in each 3 month period. Works even better in conjunction with a Shell credit card.Plus you'll be buying the better fuel, than supermarket non branded.

I have a fastfuel card and there are some good points and some bad points. The great thing is if you are driving lots of miles like me, then you know you're saving off pump prices and most of us don't have time to shop about for fuel. Half of the stations accept the rewards cards as well as the fastfuel cards (although they're not supposed to!) but amazing what you can get with a big smile. The other great thing is that you don;t need to collect dozens of little bits of paper, because they send you a monthly or weekly invoice.
The bad thing is that they lump on isurances every few months and you have to email them to return the costs and then they send you a silly little cheque for like £1 at a time.
Over all, only worth it if you're spending more than £300 per month or so.
Hope this is useful, Matthew0 -
Most fuel cards only change their prices monthly at best so you can end up forking out more when prices are falling or saving when they go up.0
