I thought grade 2 listing only applied to the exterior, but willing to be corrected.
A common misconception, it is the outside, the inside, including skirting boards, fitted furniture etc etc- if its attached to the building then its listed. In some cases even the buildings in the garden, along with the boundary walls are curtilage listed as well. And this doesn't matter whether it is Grade I, II or II* listed - Grade I is the most important, then Grade II* and then Grade II.
The difference in the grades only really makes a significant difference when you try to apply for Listed Building Consent as the Officers truly will treat a Grade I with kid gloves, less so for II* and less again for II. Plus if it is Grade I or II* it will have to be referred to the Secretary of State before consent can be granted.0
