Gas or Electric to heat water?

Can anyone tell me which is best for heating water when I don't have the central heating on. Is turning the gas boiler on for just water or is it cheaper to switch the electric heater on?

The price of a Kw of electricity is anything up to 4 times as expensive as a Kw of gas. So it is better to heat the water with gas. Even if the CH is not on.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
it all depends.
if you dont use all the heated water, heated by the gas boiler, its prob cheaper to use electric. ie a kettle.
not much point heating the water by gas, just to wash up. assuming a traditional boiler. (a combi is very different).Get some gorm.0
