Seeking a financial advisor...??

Hello,
I'm 28 a homeowner with no mortgage, I don't have a pension at all and I'm trying to sell my property. I own a small business with a healthy deposit account with minimal interest (HSBC).
I need to seek a financial adviser who I can spend time with going over my portfolio but don't know where to start. I have asked my accountant to recommend one locally and he hasn't got back to me.
How should I go about finding one? What kind of questions should I ask them? Is it better to seek one who is paid on commission of products sold or to pay for their time?
My prime concern right now is whether or not I should accept a crap offer on my home or if I can rent it for a number of years and what the tax implications are etc...
How can I trust them to provide good advice and not think they will sell me products they get a healthy return on?

There's loads on here, I'm sure you can PM them and arrange a date & time.0

The biggest IFA in here more than likely won't want your business (he is too good.. no offence intended for you!) but one of his firms may.
Um basically comission or fee based is upto you. For larger amounts fee based maybe better because comission will take a whole chunk out of it, and vice versa.
Just a word of warning, IFAs aren't there to make sure you get a good return, but they do try.0 -
Here you go, just pop your postcode in and find an IFA near you

remember to uncheck the option that only shows paying IFAs (as in pay to advertise). Otherwise you will only get a limited number of entries. Also, dont read anything into the blue and grey outputs. The blue is paying member (hence larger output). Grey is non paying.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0
