Can anyone give any advie re montego bay late feb early march.
Found good deal, but is it safe for two women to go??
whats the weather like?? and how cheap/expensive is food etc, as this is self catering.
other choices we found are
Cuba all inclusive
Gambia all inclusive
Goa all inclusive
Florida s catering
Any thoughts/advice anyone???
and would we need jabs for any of these places??
thanks

Montego Bay is absolutely beautiful, and we were fortunate enough to stay in the Sandals resort as we were celebrating our Silver Wedding Anniversary with friends.
The Hotels with private beaches, restuarants and entertanment are fine, but the local beaches are not so good. and if you are self-catering you would have to use these. You are constantly pestered to buy ganga and local hand made crafts by the locals all the time. Although novel at first, you soon become very tired of it, and they often don't take no for an answer. This could be quite intimidating if you are 2 women on your own.
I would definately go for the all inclusive deals you mention.0 -
The problem is the all inclusive is over £500 more, the self catering is a staggering deal, which is why we thought we gotta take it, but a little wary of what our surroundings are like. I will try and find oiut the anme of the hotel, which might help a little re location etc.

Yes definately do your research before you book to be on the safe side.
There is a lot of poverty in Jamaica and I really believe that you only get what you pay for. Some of the self catering and other accommodation that we saw on the island was not up to the standard you would expect elsewhere. So please be careful, the deal may not be all that you imagine.
Forgot to say you do need jabs. We had to go to our doctors to have 2 beforehand.
Good luck!0 -

we went to jamaica in November and I would definatley NOT go self catering.
it will cost you just as much if not more to buy food and it is not safe to walk around jamaica. There isnt an Asda or anything. Infact the locals seem to buy their food from shack looking shops.
There is so much poverty there that safety means holidaying in a complex and going on accompanied trips.
If you are going to go all that way go all inclusive, eat well and be safe.
Watch which trips you go on as most of them are a rip off and very expensive.
And remember EVERYONE wants a tip for everything. The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0
