Signing council house over to my sons

Hi, I really need advice on this. My sons are 21 and 19 years old and they are both full time students at college.
My worry is that when I get married next year I would have to give my council house up but that would leave both my sons homeless.
Can I sign the house over to them and would they get help with rent and/or council tax?

Also, we live in Scotland, would that make any difference?

Thank you for any help or advice given.

The house isn't yours to "sign over". Ask if their names can be added to the rental now.

Yeah, why do you have to give up the council house if you get married?

It would be best to tell the council you want your sons names on the tenany agreement, this is the only way they can stay in the house.

    Thank you for this information.

Can you add children if the house has passed from husband to wife after a death?

If the op leaves and the two boys are on the rental agreement would it automatically pass to them or could the council evict them for a homeless family?

council tenancy can only be passed down once, if husband dies house passes to wife then thats it, if wife dies or moves goes back to council, if the tenancy has not been passed down once then the eldest child could maybe take it over (with permission from the council) otherwise children have to move

    Yes I agree with that.

Will the boys not be welcome at your new house with your new husband? Have you talked to them about the implications?
