Pontins Southport

Anyone got any advice on Pontins Southport. I was lucky enough to win a self catering break with them and we are going for 4 nights Mon-Fri at Easter.

However had a look on some review sites and the reviews are terrible

Anyone else been before and can advise. We did have a choice of parks but we are in south west Scotland so Blackpool or Southport were our only choices without travelling too far and Blackpool is a Half Board camp and we really didnt want to pay extra when we had the chance of a free holiday

we went about 3 years ago when little one was only tiny I hated it ! but like yourselves we won a holiday in Sept 2008 ,I was reluctant to go but thought give it another go , It is skanky/grubby but there is so much for kid's to do you will hardly be in chalet, I was only in basic and although dated our chalet was clean and bedding was ultra white cotton sheet's .

We are going Prestatyn Easter week , my son adores the place and if he is happy so are we obviously I would prefer to be on a PO cruise like the day's before I had DS but sadly they are only a distant dream at the moment .
    Go with an open mind

please don't let it worry you ,it's a free holiday .

I would second that we lasted two nights out of a possible 5, an absolute pit.

Be prepared to be eaten by fleas in the beds.

Kids will love it though but they dont care about cleanliness.

    Its a dive.

Went last year courtesy of a free 5 day stay. Was more than happy getting hammered in the bar watching all the young Blue Coats (females) Wearing their skirts a few inch too short and making their breasts from a 32a appear like a C.

But once back at the chalet plagued by a sticky floor, c*m stained mattress and stench of last years B&H. If you can put up with the chalet best of luck with the skanky chavs it attracts as your neighbours. If you are a single male then no worries, you'll be up for a few a night. But if you have kids you'll no doubt spend your nights getting annoyed and frustrated at the inconsiderate b*****ds that have half a lager and then walk past your chalet at 2 am singing 3 lions and offering to take on the world.

If its not to late I would pay the extra and go to the Blackpool pontins. We stayed here one year and had a nice break, the following year we went to the prestatyn one and wished we hadn't. I haven't been to the southport one though.

It's a dump. I'd say you were unlucky to win the break there.

The activities for the kids are okay, but the chalets are really bad. If you can afford it, you might be better to stay in alternative accommodation in Southport, but use your passes during the day, early evening for all the activities.

How old are your Children OP ?

can I just say well maybe I was lucky ,but by no way where the bed's dirty, I took my 67 year old mum and her Sister (early 70's) with us (Kim and Aggie type) they did decided to clean the window's on the chalet and give it a quick swipe around ,but believe me if it was as bad as what others had experienced I wouldn't have stayed ,I did hear somewhere that Pontin's had spent a lot of money on there camps recently??

Also the complaint's about other holiday makers .... we went first week in Sept when kid's where back at school ,quite quiet ,never seen anything as described , I lost my mobile phone on the first night granted not an expensive one but was on contract , I was on my way into Southport to buy a PAYG to put me on when I thought I would just check with security if it had been handed in and to my surprise it had ....
like I said I may have been just lucky
