Bathroom pump help needed

Looking for plumber's advice, we renovated our bathroom last summer and install a bathroom pump for the shower. Up to 2 weeks ago, it had been running smoothly but recently it has got very loud when in use. The pump still works as normal but it has become very loud. Does anyone know what the problem/fault is?

Thanks.

Hi sorry cant realy help with the cause of the noise other than possibly is the noise as a result of vibrations due to the pump coming loose etd I am due to have a ump fitted myself next week and the plumber said he would fit it onto wood and carpet to reduce noise and vibrations ?

What bar pump is it and what effect has it had on your shower pressure ? I am hoping my 3 bar will give a good power shower flow
  • Thanks for this, i will try and find out the bar pressure.

Does anyone else have any other suggestions as to what the problem maybe?
  • Im not saying it will definately be this, so dont be too alarmed, but my old electric shower started making loud vibrating noises a while ago (It was just your standard 9kw enclosed shower unit), and I would just hit it a few times and it would stop. I carried this on for about a year, before finally renovating the bathroom. I took the shower apart and found that the noise was due to the pump constantly shorting and sparking. There was loads of black dust (Like a really thick layer of fine powder) inside and all the cable insulation had perished leaving bare wires!!!

In short, I could have electrocuted myself at any time, as the pump was so screwed. As I say, your problem may well not be this, but thought I should add it as a cautionary tale.

    Best of luck

    Hi
Where is the pump fitted? ie Loft or Airing cupboard
Where are the pipes that go to the pump coming from they should be coming direct from both tanks?
do you know what make of pump it is?
  • The pump is fitted under the bath.
    Pump make is Salamander
Wouldn't know about the second question.
  • you might be best off speaking to Salamanda

Just see what they say, they have given good advice before, but if your installer has fitted it wrong they will void your warrenty.
