You do not get that many vouchers advertised - just a tip really, if you go after 7pm it is a lot cheaper via Southampton.0

The crossing from mainland to the isle of wight is supposed to be the most expensive sea crossing mile for mile in the world0 -
You can use clubcard deal vouchers

so £10 in vouchers would give you £40 off etc.0 -
I don't know, but I doubt you'll get much of discount!!! I live on the island, and the companies operating the routes don't give much away!!! As the previous person said travelling in the evening will mean that it's cheaper - but I've never found it cheap to cross the Solent, and we supposedly get an island resident concession!!!!!0

I've heard Red Funnel can be cheaper than Wightlink? I am sure that's the reason we used them last time we went to IOW.The Very Right Honourable Lady Tarry of the Alphabetty thread-I just love finding bargains and saving moneyI love to travel as much as I can when I canLife has a way to test you, it's how you deal with this that matters0

Red Funnel only run from Southampton and take 1 hour. Wightlink run from Portsmouth or Lymington and run every 30 minutes peak. There's a virtual 24hr service from all companies which goes somewhat to explaining the high fares. The man without a signature.0

As you live on the island, can you tell me the best route to take for Cowes, is it Southampton or Portsmouth? Thanks0 -

Red Funnel only go from Southampton to East Cowes. Wightlink go from either Lymington to Yarmouth or Portsmouth to Fishbourne. The Portsmouth to Fishbourne is the main route for Wightlink. There are also Fast Cats from Portsmouth to Ryde and a Hovercraft from Southsea (Portsmouth) to Ryde - the cat and hover are passengers only. The man without a signature.0 -
No use to the OP for May, but I thought someone might need a discount for travel before the end of March. 20% off Red Funnel

If you are a member of the Camping and Caravanning Club you can get a discount on Wightlink both if you are towing or just going in the car. If you go over late at night you used to be able to get 'night flyer' fares with Wightlink that are quite a bit cheaper - these fares are available earlier in the evening on the Lymington / Yarmouth route than on the Portsmouth / Fishbourne route, don't know if they still do them. I normally ring up both Wightlink and Red Funnell and ask them what the cheapest way to get across is on the day I want to travel. I have always found them very helpful.0
