Please could I pick some techie brains here? We currently have Nortons anti virus on our machine which is up for renewal on 7th March. Our machine has Windows 98 on it. We wondering whether it was better to just renew our subscription or is there a better anti virus software out there at a cheaper cost?
Many thanks

    AVG which is free.

Or if you don't mind paying £25-30 Nod32 is very good.

  • nod32 is one of the few antivirus products that still brings out a version specifically for win98/ME. It does not slow down a win98 pc at all and is definitely the best option for pentium II win98 pcs.
  • Besides AVG Free, there's also Avast! Home Edition and AntiVir PE Classic to consider if you're not too keen on paying for updates.

If you like Norton (I don't ;) ), you can get 6 months subscription for free with the Google pack HERE . You only download the elements of the pack that you actually want.

  • A word of caution on AntiVir -

Till date this product used to be extremely good. Unfortunately their latest free version (PersonalEdition Classic 7) is full of bugs. I had so much difficulty in installing this update, now I have moved away to AVG.

Free version of AVG is good.
