radiator valves - cost to replace?

Why do you need an emergency plumber? Jesus, draining a CH system down does not need a plumber.
If the OP just ties up the ballcock so the header tank can't refill, then drain from the lowest radiator, job done. Then you can replace the valve at your own pace for free! Everyone should have a basic knowledge of how their CH system works in case of a leak. Im sure plumbers wish to make it look hard, which some things are, hence require a professional. Though replacing a valve does not, which I place in the same bracket as replacing a tap....something you should know.
Well done you, give yourself a pat on the back. I bet you feel mighty proud of yourself for telling us all how good you are!
Some people are not as outstanding at diy as yourself thats why they need idiot gas fitters/plumbers like myself to complete small easy tasks.
Well done again for being a very clever man!0 -

Cheers mate;)
If you actually take the time to read what I wrote, you may of noticed that I said some jobs need a professionial. Did you miss that in your haste to have jest on my behalf? Ive always said that if you are not confident in carrying out any task, pay to have an experienced professionial.
Though I still say everyone, regardless of their skill level should know basic of emergency plumbing, ie, draining their CH system and tuning off their mains water. Im sure even a funny bloke like you would agree with that?0 -
People have not got DIY skills anymore,DIY skills are leart from your parents,There are lots of Reports/Articles out there saying as much,Most of the people i know in thier early 30,s are useless,You need to understand you are "flogging a dead horse" even trying to explain the basics.
Then there are the others who would rather pay anyway!!OH THE JOYS OF BEING SELF-EMPLOYED!! Can Travel,Will Work For Free!0
