Wedding Venue And Reception Venues in Gloucester

Options
Hi everyone

Myself and my partner have not long moved to the Gloucester area and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for venues in the Gloucester area...

I have read that combing the wedding and reception in to one venue can make it cheaper but this isn't essential because we will probably get married in a Church anyway.

Quite like the idea of a carvery for the reception aswell....

Thanks in advance

  • I can fully reccomend the Painswick Hotel in Painswick, known as the cotswolds 88 hotel. The hotel is beautiful and I have had some fantastic photos there.

Clearwell Castle in the Forest of Dean springs to mind as does Sudeley Castle (which will be expensive).

They are offering 50% off room hire for Winter Weddings between Oct 09 and March 2010. They are also advertising a wedding fair so it may pay you to visit and have a look around and have a chat to them. Remember though that mid week weddings will be cheaper than those that take place at weekends.
  • Been told that Stonehouse Court is going to be quite expensive - have sent them an enquiry but not heard back yet.... like the idea of a manor house or something though

Whereabouts in Gloucester do you live and whereabouts are you looking?

There is The Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester - they have a chapel on site as well as lovely rooms for a wedding reception (their food is lovely too and they have space for a marquee). Not sure of cost though.

  • I'm having my do at The Rectory www.therectoryhotel.com near Malmesbury (just over the border into Wiltshire). They use the conservatory for civil cermonies. The resturant seats approx 45, conservatory 30 and you can have a marquee attached. Exclusive use (including 12 rooms is £3000). They could do with improving their organisation and communication skills but everything seems to be just about sorted now - I'll let you know after the event if any major catastrophes occur!
    Good luck in your search
  • Live in Quedgeley, think Cirencester is a bit far for us really

ebeneezer - does the £3000 include the ceremony and food? Would definately be interested in knowing how it goes. When is the big day?

vicinity - when are your friends getting married? Guess it would be too cheeky to ask how much they are paying :-)
