Where to buy GOOD meat in bulk?

Hiya,
after my last shopping for meat in bulk I feel I need to ask for advice. We got it from a London shop that sells in bulk but we were ver, very disappointed with the quality. That why I am asking where to buy GOOD meat in bulk?
We live near Cambridge but would travel to get good quality.
thank you!!

    Hi Teoroy,

There are some recommendations on these earlier threads:

Organic meat online.. does anyone buy it?

    Fresh meat

    Clares organics (meat deliveries)

    Bulk buying meat?

Costco has good quality meat in bulk.

  • We go to Farmers Markets and Farmshops. We pick and choose the producers for different meats. They are only too willing to provide meat in bulk cut to individual requirements.

Find a local butcher you can get to know and trust.

broadstripe butchers. Fantastic meat!! (look for discount codes though as they are a bit expensive!)
  • When you click the link for "past threads" you end up on a 2005 thread which discusses meat delivery places - now it may just be me but surely knowing a butchers was good in 2005 is totally irrelevant in 2009 ?

WHY do ALL threads have to be merged and linked to past threads so that we end up with out of date advice and tips ?

Is it just me that this drives mad ?
It's not paranoia if they really are after you.

Drives me mad too, its got to the point where you need to look up an old thread and add your comment to that, rather than have a fresh new up to date thread. I agree its totally irrelevant, is this the only forum this happens in?

Well, if nothing else it will tell you the butcher has been around for a few years and is not a fly by night site that can't deliver what it promises.

Threads are merged so we don't have lots of threads on the same subject. If it wasn't for this rule people would be starting threads about their own favourite butcher and when you visit the forum you see pages and pages of butcher threads.

Much of the advice on here is timeless, a recipe for a cake posted in 2005 can still be used today.

You can set the forum to show newest posts first, so when you read a thread you see the latest posts first and can read back as far as you need/want to.

It only drives me mad when board guides fail to read the post and move it to the wrong place.

I just looked on their website and they do look good, but do they only do local delivery?

  • I'd second the Costco recommendation. Always good quality meat at really good prices.
