splitting tickets on national express tickets

I was wondering whether anyone has split tickets on national express coaches before and whether this is allowed. I am wanting to travel from leeds to leicester in march returning 2 days later. Return journey would cost me £23.70, however if i split my tickets, going from leeds to nottingham return then nottingham to leicester, leicester nottingham then nottingham to leeds on the way back I can get 3 fanfare (cheap) tickets and 1 normal fare meaning the whole journey costs £7.I have checked the coach number and times and it the same coach so i don't even have to get off. I'm assuming its just like splitting tickets on the train but wondered if anyone had done it before and whther the coach driver objected??

It definitly pays to split if you are changing coach, because you only get 'fun fares' (£1/£5 etc.) on point to point tickets. For example, we did Northampton>Brighton as northampton>london (£1) and northampton>brighton for about £15 for two of us :-), it was about £60 as a through ticket.

Don't know if it's legit or not.

You do have to bear in mind that it may not be the same coach - despite having the same number. If they run relief coaches they can leave out some stops. Can't see that your journey is one where that's likely though.
