More advice please.....
Over the weekend, my other half and I were talking to a friend who happens to be a Bank Manager (Barclays Bank) and we were talking to him about claiming back charges and late payment fee's, on current accounts and credit cards, and the success that many others had had in claiming them back.
He told me that yes more people are doing it, not because it was illegal (if that is the right word) but because it would cost the bank more to defend the claim in court.
The comment that caused me concern was that should a customer go down this route to reclaim charges be it from a bank accout or credit card account then after the dust settles the bank/credit card company will pull the rug out from under your feet demanding immeadiate repayment of balances and overdrafts and close accounts.
While I appreciate he was giving the party line, is this true, and if so do we have any cause for a complaint if all of a sudden my bank account is closed with no reason given. this has me a little worried as I am just about to claim back a considerable amount, on the other hand is it best to leave it well alone.

If we have a valid reason, we may end the agreement immediately and write to you as soon as we can afterwards, to tell you why we have done so.
This is a typical clause.
The person well known here for claiming charges back is running out of options already: Recommend a bank account ...0 -

or if you are claiming back a lot of fees then first open another accoutn and when it is accepted, then make a claim and if they do close it you are already to go with a new one.Nice to save.0
