Personally I prefer Kidney beans but I have used baked beans when I have run out and it has been fine.0

Baked beans are fine, but they do take some of the heat out of the chilli. You could add a touch more chilli powder to compensate or alternatively rinse the baked beans before adding.
I would add a tin of tomatoes, fry off some chopped onions and add more kidney beans plus extra chilli powder.

I usually put baked beans in with the kidney beans -it's good. I tip in a load of sweetcorn too;)0
