We have recently had a number of quotes to get a new roof, and they have all come in at reasonably different price points and we are unsure which quote to go for. We do have the money to pay for this, but we have a bit of uncertainty job wise at the moment as my husband works for Citi and there are rumours that they may be nationalised. So we don't want to pay over the odds in case we need the money at a later date.
We asked the roofers if it would be possible to save as many of the original tiles as possible for the front of the house, as the houses that have been redone in tiles / new slates look a bit out of keeping in our opinion.
The existing roof is the original and is over 100 years old hence needing to be replaced, we also have a small leak so it seems a good idea to get the work done now.
All quotes are in the format we received them and are as follows:
Quote 1 - NFRC company, 10 year guarantee, good reviews on CheckaTrade
Quote 2 - comes with another 10 year guarantee, another good write up on CheckaTrade
For above with new Spanish slate cost would be £10,040 + VAT
Quote 3 - recommended by family friends, good write up on CheckaTrade
Quote 4 - Recommended by friends, has done work on previous property
Quote 5
Quote 6 - NFRC company, 10 year guarantee
We are based in Croydon and all the companies we have contacted are in the local area.
Given the above quotes which do you think is fair? Are there any other questions that we should ask of the companies we have asked to quote?
Many thanks for your help.
