humax freesat / video problem

ok, yet another problem from the ratty virgo OH ... the freesat is working fine but wont tune into the vcr. When he tries to tune it in , it keeps saying "no aerial signal". Can anybody help ?
When he fitted it in, he connected a scart cable to the back of the humax box then to the vcr, so he doesn't know what the problem is. TY in advance!

no need to tune it in if its connected via a SCART, just set the VCR to record from the AV/SCART input!

It sounds like he is trying to tune the VCR to an RF signal but the Humax does not have RF out!

Connect the top Humax scart to the TV and the bottom Humax scart to the VCR.

He says this is how he connected it, re the scarts, but isnt sure of the AV/SCART input thing. He says he has the vcr set to work from the sky box, but he wants it to work from sky & freesat... I am sorry, I'm just passing on what he says, its all gobbledegook to me, hope I'm making it clear to you :)

Unless the VCR has two scarts, he will have to choose between the Sky box or the Humax box or possibly use scart between the Humax and VCR and tune the VCR to the RF output of the Sky box.

kk, he says he has 2 scarts. One from the sky box to the vcr, and one from the humax to the vcr. Is still saying "no aerial signal". The humax box works fine on tv. Its very hard isnt it to help somebody online without being there!
EDITED- maybe the problem is in tuning in and not connections ? maybe he doesnt know how to do it?

He should not be tuning as the Humax does not have an RF output to tune to. Suggest that he reads the instructions for the VCR, perhaps only one of the VCR scarts is an input.

As espresso states correctly, nothing to tune, forget anything that relates to RF Signal or tuning, if using a scart lead.

Has he tried changing the AV selection via the TV Remote Control?

Well we havent got a tv remote control, we have to use the drop down panel on the front of the tv set, or the sky remote. We lost it a long time ago. (and I think he's going to lose it again shortly...)
He is now playing with the vcr remote.. It's currently on "AV2 normal"
