HD on Freesat

I was reading a thread about HD on Freesat and someone mentioned BBC/ITV HD, I get BBC HD but not ITV does anyone else get ITV HD on Freesat? is it only certain areas that get ITV HD? I have re-tuned my Freesat box but still only get BBC HD. Does anyone have any info on when more HD channels will be broadcast in HD as all I get is BBC HD.

It's not a separate channel, when an HD broadcast is on you need to be watching ITV and then press the red button to get the HD picture

I'm in NI and I think we (and Scotland) still have some ridiculous problem where we can't get ITV HD due to some stupid argument between the owners of UTV & STV and ITV, I can't even remember what the problem was, and thought it would have been sorted out by now.
As correctly stated above, there is no ITV HD channel to pick up as such, you just press the red button whilst on ITV to get it, or if recording it from the guide it will give you an HD option, same as for BBC HD.
If you really want to get around it, you should change the postcode you entered into your freesat box. It uses this to decide which tv region you are in, for all the local TV stations to appear correctly. Similar to Sky having your location on the subscription card. Use an English or Welsh postcode, you'll get the wrong local BBC and ITV stations in the guide, but will have ITV HD available. And please complain to ITV about this! What a mess!

I was under the impression that viewers in Scotland and NI just have to view Freesat channel 977.

Thanks for the replies yes that's how I got round the no ITV HD in Scotland problem I tuned to channel 977 ITV 1 London then pressed the red button.

Must give that a go, if I can ever find something on ITVHD worth watching, at the right time! I didn't research it cos I thought it was such a ridiculous situation that it would be solved quickly...

There doesn't appear to be a lot of HD material on ITV.
