I received a parking ticket today, whilst briefly parked on double yellow lines. I was helping get rid of furniture for a friend whilst she was away, so parked the car outside her flat for 8 minutes, whilst doing so. I was given a ticket after 6. Do you get a grace period for double yellows? Also, the ticket has the wrong colour car on it. Is this alone grounds for appeal?

Generally speaking you are fully entitled to load/unload a car/van whilst briefly parked on double yellow lines. please scan or photograph the parking ticket (on both sides) and post it on here using tinypic. Howto in the stickies. Someone like Neil will be able to give a considered opinion on your next course of action. The colour of the car is immaterial and not grounds for appeal, however councils (assuming a council ticket) do make mistakes on their pcn's.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

It depends what the alleged contravention is. If there are loading restrictions or not.
If not then you can do whatever it takes. See my posts in the tail end of the 'ManUtd99' thread for comments on loading.
- and as Peter says - show the PCN or at the very least say what Council and the alleged contravention.
