I want to rent my home any advice?

Im looking to rent out my home and as all this is new to me any advice would be helpfull. What do i need to do? what will an agent do for me? who covers maintenance what happens if the house isnt rented for some time?
Please help if you can

    So have i heard wrong that some companys will pay it for u as a incentive for them to keep it rented at all times ?

    Lets try and decipher this..

    "So I have heard it wrong".. probably means "I may be mistaken but I have heard"

    "that some companys".... that some companies

    "will pay it for u"... will pay the rent on the property

    "as a incentive for"... as an incentive to

    "keep it rented at all times"...... fine with that.

    So to put it all together, we get:

    "I may be mistaken but I have heard that some companies will pay the rent on the property as an incentive to keep it rented at all times"

    Which is really quite bizarre. You want some commercial entity to pay the rent on your vacant property just so that its "rented" continuously. Why on earth would they do that, unless they wanted to go bankrupt or something?

    there are firms who do offer this bizarre service - but - the amount of rent that the LL gets is stunningly low to compensate the Letting agents for voids

    needless to say - the ones i have read about sound like utter scams to me

    Yes it will be long term and yes i will be far away hence wanting an agent to look after it for me
