I can put my partner's Quickie wheelchair in the back of my Vauxhall Agila, without taking it apart. It's a large one, 29 inches wide. I do have to lift it in, fortunately I'm quite strong! That's with the back seat down, so no room for passengers.
    Hi,
The Agila (or Suzuki G Wagon - both the same car) is suitable, without a doubt. My mum used an electric powered disability scooter (4 wheeled and BIG) and that fitted into her Agila, so a wheelchair will for sure. You can get an aluminium ramp to suit from most disability scooter outlets, but also try any local engineering firms near to you. They tend to use the same aluminium sheet material and will be a lot cheaper too. Small firms might give you good service and make it to fit your car.

An OT could help you access a chair through the voucher scheme:

    Voucher Scheme link

Unfortunately Ally I don't believe many areas use the voucher scheme as it is optional. As far as I know it is not available in Scotland at all. I read with interest the fictional account on the direct gov website about how referrals and assessments are meant to proceed

"All the situations in which a wheelchair may be used - like at school, using transport and social activities - will be part of the assessment. Parents and carers should also be part of the process and their opinions and views considered "

In the Highland area you are supposed to take what they give you and doff your cap and say thank ye sire!
