apology accepted hehe. I was doubtful too but me hubby and kids went down and the kids loved rummaging through the books. My house now looks like a library but what a great find. Hope you all manage to get some books save them from land fill.0

People in Bristol have been invited to help themselves to free books at a warehouse which were left behind when the owners left the site.
Bookbarn's lease on the premises in Arnos Vale recently expired and when the firm moved out it left behind thousands of books.
Managers of the Paintworks site have invited people to help themselves.
This Bookbarn is in no way connected to the company BookBarn International at Hallatrow in North Somerset.0 -

Why are all those books all over the floor, though? That's just disgusting - obviously people are 'searching' for their own bargains by trashing everything that they don't happen to want!0

Does anyone know the opening times for this?0

Can someone please move it a bit closer to where I live? On second thoughts, considering we have books in every room of the house (yes - EVERY), I think maybe I should not go too close to this. I love books! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

The reason for the piles of books was because the owners took away the ladders leaving sky-high bookshelves inaccessible! People pushed them over for easier access. I absolutely hated treading on the books but there was no way round them until loads of books had been removed.
What a waste. Enterprising shop-owners, car booters etc were loading vans and trailers with whatever they could scoop up quickly and coming back for more. There were boxes and unopened packets of brand new books but 99% of the books are second hand, some worth a lot of money. It's a goldmine for anyone who knows about books and has the time to browse!
Opening times are 10 till 4. There is very limited parking now.
I thoroughly enjoyed my book hunt and came home with about 250 books to read, then release into the wild on bookcrossing.com.0 -
