Why don't Towels Dry You?

What is it with new towels that refuse to soak up any water? Is it some secret chemical treatment? What can I do to get my towels to do what I bought them for. These are not cheap ones either, they're Egyptian cotton and were quite expensive. I wonder if I could return them as being not 'fit for purpose' ? Any advice welcome. Bobinbognor

are you using fabric softener - as you shouldnt be this affects the absorbancy.0

Did you wash them first? You are supposed to wash them to increase absorbancy.
Also make sure you rinse well and dont use fabric softener as although it makes them smell nice and feel soft...it also stops them being as absorbant as they would have been without it.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Hi you quick people...Yes I did wash them before using, but I did use fabric conditioner, I guess that's what I did wrong. I'll rewash without. Thanks all. Bob0

I find you need to wash new towels three or four times to get them really absorbant.
Fully agree with the suggestion that you don't use fabcon - I've not used any for more than six years now - not a drop!Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0
