Netgear Range

I was wondering why my daughter cant get a long range with her laptop sometimes when shes sitting on her laptop in the lounge where the netgear modem is she looses connection and this is where the modem is,also if she wants to go into her bedroom she hardly gets nothing ?

    Try changing the channel the router uses. It could be picking up interference from somewhere.

    there's usually 11 or 13 channels you can choose from, for your router and computer to chat on, so that you and the guy next door arn't on the same frequency - this reduces interference

    What laptop is it ?

    I had a HP DV9000 series laptop last year that could not get a connection from 2 foot away from the router.
    There is a known wireless problem with some HP and Compaq laptops.

    Where r the channels ? The icon is like little bars going up ? If so its on the first small one and its in green colour ?

    To check or change the wireless channel try this:

    Open Internet Explorer or Firefox.
    In Address bar type 192.168.1.1
    For the username and password , try admin and password,provided you have not changed the password on the configuration earlier.
    At the top left hand click on Wireless settings (under setup)
    Change the channel from there.
    Click Apply and reboot the router after the settings are updated.

    ** IP address might be 192.168.0.1 instead.
