Stagecoach - do you think its worth it?

My son (7yrs) has joined a local stagecoach (drama) club for a few weeks now, he says he likes it. But he does not say much after classes, i was hoping the class will help him find something he likes and help him make friends and maybe help him with emotions.
But Stagecoach is not cheap at £26 per 3 hr lesson!
I would be interested to hear other parents views on how its helped their kids or not? (especially as its not a cheap after school club and it takes some sacrifice to pay the fees and make time for taking them).

I used to do this on a Saturday about 15 years ago and it was fab (I was 11 at the time) although even then was about £17 for the 3 hours.
I did an hour singing, an hour dance and an hour drama - loved it. I even sang with a group in Brent Cross shopping Centre at christmas. I made friends outside of school, can now hold a note but I can't dance and I was a drama queen anyway :rotfl:
I am sure if he's not enjoying it he would say - why not ask him if there is anything else he would like to do instead? I am sure if he really loved it he would be mortified and tell you so.A very busy Yummy Mummy to a 1 year old gorgeous boy :smileyhea
Where does the time go? :think:0 -
My son did a similar thing for a while, he loved it and it really helped his confidence. I would check around and see if there is anything similar for a cheaper price - I found a local stage school who charged £18 for 3 hours in the same format as stagecoach.0

My two daughters did this as I hoped it would help make them more confident and outgoing. I don't think it made any difference, and I stopped it after a year as I didn't think they were getting anything out of it. More outgoing children who are into drama would probably get more out of it, but it didn't provide what I was looking for.0

I went to a local drama group run by the County Music Service, which is a local service that interacts with schools - if you contact his school they should be able to tell you of a local group. It was much cheaper than Stagecoach and it really helped my confidence and I made lifelong friends - I think these groups are great, but Stagecoach seems more geared towards children who are interested in going into some kind of theatre or media profession, I think?I don't believe and I never did that two wrongs make a right0

How do you find local activities and clubs in your area?0

Does your Local Council list them?"On behalf of teachers, I'd like to dedicate this award to Michael Gove and I mean dedicate in the Anglo Saxon sense which means insert roughly into the anus of." My hero, Mr Steer.0

Ugh, stagecoach. I went along to a taster day and it wasn't for us. It is very formal singing lessons, dance classes and drama. Of course this is wonderful if looking for a route to a career in acting or performing arts.
However, if it is fun based drama, confidence building, dressing up, improvisation, team work, and a good laugh then I'd recommend http://www.helenogrady.co.uk/
Two of our kids go here and think it's fab. You would have to check if they have a group in your area. It's miles cheaper aswell0
