Ina nutshell Hsbc did not switch my old account as should of done under their guarentee switching service.
July 08 I joined and it was sept befor I recieved my card and pin...Meanwhile d/d's still attempted withdrawels causing £100's in charges..
Hsbc now trying to wriggle out of it,,it is not fair please HELP

You need to make a complain as i am aware they make a lot of noise about their guarantee. They should sort you out with something like a small compo for all your trouble0
